Free Led Bike Rides in Swindon

If you are amongst the thousands of people up and down the country who have recently discovered (or re-discovered) the joys of cycling there is some good news for you.  British Cycling has recruited a team of specially trained volunteer ride leaders who are ready to help you explore more of Swindon by bike. Ride leaders will take you to places you may not have been before and show you how easy it is to get around the town by bike. They are trained to help you cycle safely, to improve your confidence and help you enjoy more time in the saddle.  Many of the ride routes are easy going, flat and on traffic free paths, allowing you to explore Swindon’s extensive cycle network.  For those wishing to push themselves a little more there will also be some on road rides around the beautiful countryside surrounding the town.

To find out more log on to www.letsride.co.uk and enter your postcode to see when the next ride is, you can also ‘like’ the Let’s Ride Swindon Facebook Page. All rides are free to join. Rides are still in the planning phase so initially there will only be a few on the website. However, keep checking and shortly there will more added stretching well into Autumn and beyond. All rides will adhere strictly to the Covid-19 safety guidelines.

As a volunteer ride leader myself I will once again be leading some short, social rides on local cycle paths, perfect for helping build your confidence in the saddle. All the family are welcome to join the fun, and I’m sure our recent addition to the household will be coming along to offer words of support (babbling) from his child seat!

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to get in touch with our local Let’s Ride Coordinator, Lew Lawton cycle.medic@btinternet.com.
