Have Your Say on Improving Walking and Cycling Routes

In December, the Department for Transport announced that Swindon has been awarded £1.4 million to improve cycling and walking routes across the town. The funding, which will be available over the next four years, will enable Swindon Borough Council to progress proposed improvements to active travel routes.

The announcement is timely, as the latest version of the council’s Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)—first published in 2022—is now open for public consultation. The LCWIP sets out the council’s priorities for investing in infrastructure and routes to make everyday journeys by walking, wheeling and cycling easier and safer.

Residents are invited to take part in the consultation and provide feedback on the schemes included in the plan. This is an important opportunity to have a say on where improvements should be made. The consultation is open until 20 February 2026.

Before responding to the survey, residents are encouraged to review the LCWIP document. Full details, including the consultation survey, can be found at:

If you have the time and interest, you can read the full document and respond to all survey questions. Alternatively, you may choose to focus only on the schemes most relevant to you and comment on those sections.

Responses can also be submitted by email or post to the council’s Transport Planning team:
